Hi everyone, thank you for all the support you have given me. I'm sorry there won't be any reviews today and for a while. I'm taking a break to work on creating a good buffer of reviews again. I have two ready to go but I'll need to photograph them and get them into the blog. So it's not going to make it for tomorrow. Hopefully the buffer will be done quickly and I'll be back in less than a month.

Review: Akkerman Gele Oker Van Frans

My thanks to Glenn for the ink sample.

I really enjoy this yellow ink. Most yellows tend to be too bright, too light to be read against white paper. But that’s not the case for Akkerman Gele Oker Van Frans. It shades well, going from orange in parts to bright yellow in others. This is sunshine in a bottle. Can you tell I really like this one a lot? This is going to be added to my collection. I’m officially poisoned.

Review: Montblanc Emerald

My thanks to Danny for the ink sample.

Montblanc Emerald is Montblanc’s 2018 Colour of the year. It is a delightful colour. The green is bright and it pops right off the page. It shades well, going from a dark saturated green to a bright blue-green colour. But with the price of Montblanc non-standard inks going up, I’m not sure I’ll add it to my collection even though I really enjoyed this ink.

Review: Pen BBS No 224 Tolstoy

My thanks to Ana of The Well Appointed Desk for the ink sample.

Pen BBS is a China ink manufacturer. They have a wide variety of ink colours. No. 224 Tolstoy is a shade of green-yellow that’s just right up my alley. I’m a sucker for almost all kinds of green-yellow. I love it a whole lot. It shades super well going from a mossy green to an almost Pilot Iroshizuku Chiku-Rin light green-yellow. No. 224 Tolstoy is dry so it won’t give you the best writing experience if you filled it into a dry writer.

Review: KWZ Chicago Blue

My thanks to Ana of The Well Appointed Desk for the ink sample.

KWZ Chicago Blue is a standard dark blue ink. It is mostly flat and doesn’t shade very much. It does have the standard KWZ ink scent and so if you don’t like it, stay away. This colour feels excellent for corporate use. Also if you are looking to buy a bottle of KWZ Chicago Blue, you’re probably out of luck. This was made exclusively for the Chicago Pen Show 2017.
